As part of Organic Wonder's commitment towards nature, reforestation programs started some years ago. As of today's date more than 100 hectares of mangrove forest are being reforested to give back their natural habitat to hundreds of wild species.
We run two separate programs: one by natural reforestation where water flows in and out ensuring a natural seeding process. This method has given us
so far very good results.
Another program is run with the cooperation of nearby communities which help us plant manually propagules of mangrove. In exchange they have free access to the farm to extract mussels as part of their traditional economical activity. In all neighboring villages of the farms, we support social programs by mean of
scholarship material and financial aids for the payment of the teachers.
In addittion, Organic Wonder helps with construction material restoring a very old church (1725) in the village ''El Morro'' going back to the times of
''The Conquistadores''. This church is a true historical and architectural heritage to be maintained but which is located in a very poor zone of the country where no funds are left for such type of rescue. In the city of Guayaquil, Organic Wonder has granted the land, constructed and is now fully supporting a shelter near its processing plant welcoming children of the street. This shelter is run by the Fundación Salesiana Padre Amador por los Chicos de la Calle (a duly approved non for profit foundation under Ecuadorian law) and offers education, training and physical and psychological supp ort to help some 300 children rescued from the streets of Guayaquil to successfully reintegrate the society.
It is fair to say that Organic Wonder is the result of yearlong R&D improvements in its laboratory, farms, feed plant and packing plant. Bottom line objective was to provide a sophisticated product matching new millennium consumer expectations: safe product, improved local working conditions, better environment conservation.
